Muireann Casey Hughes
Counsellor - Psychotherapist MIACP
I am a passionate believer in the very strong human desire to grow and develop. Creative and enthusiastic, I enjoy being instrumental in this creative process as it evolves for each individual client. People can avail of my service in both Malahide and Limerick City.
Experience of life is important in a counsellor/therapist and in the therapeutic process. I have experience of more than twenty years as an educator and language teacher, working with young people and their parents on their various challenges. This is hugely beneficial to my clients now in our work together.
I use my active attentive listening skills, (developed as a language teacher) to create a therapeutic environment that is safe and supportive and which is conducive to the development of good health, wellbeing, healing and growth of my clients.
Since 2009 I have worked successfully with a very diverse range of individual clients, from adolescents to persons in their eighties, on a wide range of issues, within different organisations, including schools and in Private Practice.
I have completed additional training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
This is a powerfully effective therapy used to help with general life events, anxiety, depression, as well as symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other conditions. It is similar in its effectiveness to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
